"You're writing about a cutting board?" you ask. Why yes, yes I am.
BECAUSE.
Just look at this beauty!
It's pretty spectacular looking and we got it to test out to see how it hold up to high use. It comes from a local metro Detroit custom woodshop called TreePurposed. The main source of the wood that they use for various projects comes from trees they personally cut down with Arbor Man LLC. You should check out their website as they have lots of cool projects that they have been working on. They reclaim and repurpose wood into many cool things and they're just getting started!
Here's what I know about my cutting board:
It's made from black cherry.
It came from a house in Bloomfield Hills.
It requires some maintenance.
Not safe for dishwashers.
Has to be hand washed with soap and water, the old fashioned way.
Walnut oil helps protect the wood.
Once a week for a month we will wipe it down with walnut oil.
After that we will wipe it down once a month for a year.
Then every so often after the year.
I'm pretty excited to see how it withstands our daily cutting board use. I'm sure you will see a post or two about it later on to update you on how it's holding up. Plus, you'll be seeing this beautiful little guy in food blog posts!
